The speed limit is 120 km/hour on motorways, 100 km/h on main roads, 90 km/hour on local roads and 50 km/hour in built-up areas, except in places where a different speed limit is indicated.
Most of Santiago 's streets are one-way streets for drivers and almost all of the ones in the old town are pedestrian streets, although they are open to vehicles from 8 to 10.30 am for loading and unloading.
