The walk can begin in Rúa do Vilar, where we find the Casa Mora cake shop, founded in the early 20th century. Apart from artisanal chocolates and other sweet things, it is famous for making the best “tarta de Santiago” (almond cake); and it can boast being the originator of the Cross of St. James silhouette that now identifies this dessert.
This cake is made with almonds, eggs and sugar, following a very old recipe that goes back to the 16th century. According to the canonical recipe, it should contain 33% almonds, but never any flour, as in the industrial version. It keeps well and is an unbeatable gift.
