Garden of the “Pazo de Faramello”

Very close to Santiago: Rois

Built overlooking the canyon of the River Tinto, the “Pazo de Faramello” forms a spectacular natural and architectural site. Ponds, swimming pools, fountains, channels, natural pools… the fusion of stone and water in its gardens conveys a matchless spirituality and relates the origins of the “Pazo de Faramello”, Galicia’s first paper factory, established in 1710, and the best that was ever built in the region (the only one to proudly bear the Royal Crown).

An area of more than 450 m2 made up of well-kept 19th-century French gardens, overlooking the noisy natural waterfalls on the river bordering the Way of St. James. This is a very pleasant spot, crossed by an old canal that provided water for the paper factory’s waterwheels and surrounded by more than 20 species of fruit trees.
