Garden of the Rosalía de Castro House Museum

Very close to Santiago: Padrón

The Rosalía de Castro House Museum features behind its walls a green space that was a vegetable garden in Rosalía’s time. It has been recreated as a garden of that time, forming a beautiful ensemble along with the house.

The camellias surrounding the property were planted after the writer’s death. Among the interesting specimens are the Camellia japonica “Rosalía de Castro” and other ones of Portuguese origin: “María Irene,” “Pomponia,” “Magnolia Rosea,” forming part of the circuit of Galician gardens belonging to the Camellia Route.

Moreover, the garden features other unique specimens such as the Figueira (“fig tree”), which belongs to the Galician Catalogue of Outstanding Trees, or the Quercus robur that descends from Guernica’s Oak Tree.

Beautiful, charming spots that take us back in time, such as the trained vine combining nature and the rustic beauty of stone.
