Guided visit of traditional workshops

Activitie available in Booking Centre

Enter into their very own spaces and discover the charm of our artists and the ancient trading customs of Compostela: leather, traditional braiding, silverwork, jet stone...

This visit invites us to explore the artistic ins and outs of the centre of Santiago, in order to see its artisans at work. They all share a common goal: reviving the traditional trades and materials of Galicia's and Santiago's culture.

This visit includes:

- Malde jeweller's. This shop, opened in 1933, perpetuates traditional silverwork, the Compostela craft par excellence.

- A Mouga shop-workshop. This shop-workshop specialises in making traditional Galician costumes, in designing and reproducing old models. There, its artisans will show you their work with braids and necklaces.

- Media Lúa shop-workshop. All of the items in this shop are made with leather, one of the basic materials for making objects before the industrial revolution. The process, from the sketch to the final step, is completely manual, employing traditional leatherwork techniques.

- Ricardo jeweller's. The owner and artisan of this jewellery shop, Ricardo Rivas Casal, will show the creative process behind one of the most popular souvenirs among pilgrims: jet-stone religious objects and amulets.
