Pork Jowl with Small Norway Lobster is Santiago´s best tapa
Pork Jowl with Small Norway Lobster and Lemon, from the Tafona restaurant, was chosen as Santiago de Compostela´s best tapa in 2009 after two weeks of sampling tapas. The competition comes to an end at 7 pm today with a prize-giving gala. Compared to last year, 20% more tapas were sampled and 25% more Tapasportes were distributed. 150 prizes were awarded, including 5 LCD screens, weekend accommodation and wine tastings. Also, this year the competition had its own page on Facebook, with more than 1,600 admirers. The jury´s prizes, including Best Tapa 2009, will be handed over on Wednesday, July 15, at 7 pm during a final gala that will be held in the Mercado de Abastos (food market). The most participative company in the Collective Tapasporte competition, will also be announced. Santiago(é)Tapas is an initiative of Santiago Tourism and the Compostela Catering Association, with the sponsorship of Estrella Galicia, Galicia Calidade, Praza de Abastos and the El Correo Gallego Group.
