Santiago Tourism promotes city and Holy Year in Berlin
Santiago Tourism will attend the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB), which will be held in Berlin from March 10 to 14 and is considered the largest tourism fair in the world. From March 10 to 12, during the professional fair, Santiago Tourism will meet with travel agents and tour operators specialising in cultural tourism. During the weekend, it will inform the general public about the city’s attractions. Santiago Tourism will also meet with representatives of the four Spanish Tourism Offices in Germany: Dusseldorf, Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt, with the objective of promoting Santiago de Compostela more in this country. More and more Germans are expressing interest in the city and the Way of St. James, especially after the publication of Hape Kerkerling’s book ’Bueno, me largo,’ which has sold more than three million copies.
With its presence in Berlin, Santiago Tourism continues with its promotion of the city and the Holy Year in its strategic markets. In January, the municipal tourism company attended both the Fitur and Fitur Congress fairs in Madrid. February was the turn of the BIT, Italy’s most important tourism fair that was held in Milan. That same month it also promoted the city in the Japanese city of Tanabe, highlighting the links between two World Heritage pilgrimage routes: the Way of St. James and the Kumano Road.
