Czech Prizes for Galician Short Films
The jury of the Brno Sixteen International Competition of Fiction Films, in the Czech Republic, awarded two of its prizes to Galician short films: A Canción de Fémerlin by the Pontevedra filmmaker Manuel Pena and Metamorfose, by Fran Estévez from Vilagarcía de Arousa.
The Galician Actor Luis Tosar Wins Cineuropa 2005 Prize
Luis Tosar has been awarded Santiago de Compostela´s Cineuropa 2005 Prize. The festival begins on November 2.  Tosar will receive the prize on November 15th, in the Teatro Principal. The festival´s complete programme will be presented on November 15th. 
Amal 05 Begins with Documentary on Cooperation in Palestine
The Amal 05 Festival, which will be held in Compostela from Oct. 24-30, has the objective of becoming the first international Arab film festival held in Spain.  The festival will present a total of 21 screenings in Compostela´s Teatro Principal throughout the week.

The EU´s Council of Europe has awarded 220,000 euros to the Galician illustrator Miguelanxo Prado´s first animated feature film, De profundis, in a competition with the participation of 32 different countries.

The Galician Audiovisual Consortium presents its new Galician short-film catalogue CURTAS 2005.  The catalogue contains information about each short film, photos and a DVD with the original version as well as Spanish and English subtitles. 
Chano Piñeiro Festival Established 10 Years After the Filmmaker´s Death
The President of the Xunta, Pérez Touriño, announced the establishment of a cinema festival bearing the name of the Galician filmmaker Chano Piñeiro during a tribute held in Vigo on October 14th.
