Very close to Santiago: A Estrada

The church of Frades summarises the spirit of the Romanesque style, being one of the best examples of this artistic period remaining in the entire municipality of A Estrada.

The nave is very spacious for the size of the church and, exceptionally, is covered by a barrel vault. The apse is rectangular and fairly old; according to some authors, it may even be prior to the 12th century. The main wall is crowned by a beautiful cross framed in a circle and made up of four leaves. The original construction has been fully preserved and the façade features a small rose window.
