Espacio 48 was founded in October 2000 in order to showcase the work of contempory artists both national and international. From its beginning it has tried to promote new ideas, open new roads and launch the careers of emerging talents. The curator, Charo Santiago, is involved with the artists and their work, trying to promote an ethos that goes beyond the purely commercial. This attitude is reflected in the exhibitions which provide an opportunity for new talent without neglecting more established artists.
