Surrounded by the sea, A Coruña is a large city but also peaceful and pleasant. You can ride along its long promenade in a tram (just like the old ones) and stop in the Roman lighthouse called Torre de Hércules, which is the oldest functioning one in the world and can be visited. In its port, one of the most important in Spain, you can see everything from giant cargo ships to swift sailboats.
Apart from all of this, A Coruña has three great jewels for families: three museums designed especially for children, where they can touch and experiment. The Domus or Casa del Hombre (House of Man) explains the human body and its characteristics in an amusing way; the Casa de las Ciences (House of Science) explores physics, chemistry and nature in a very educational manner and also features a planetarium; and the Acuarium or Casa de Los Peces (House of Fish) takes you on an exciting journey to the depths, where you will meet thousands of sea creatures face to face, and a lot more. These three museums are a must!
