The Auditorium of Galicia was opened on October 20th, 1989, with the objective of consolidating the Galician capital’s range of cultural events. Included in the National Auditoriums Programme, it was possible thanks to the joint participation of the Culture Ministry, the Xunta de Galicia and Santiago City Council. The efficient sponsorship of the different Administrations and several private institutions have made the Auditorium the centre par excellence for high-profile and internationally renowned cultural events, as well as a compulsory reference point for Galicia’s musical and artistic culture.
Close to Santiago Cathedral, the Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility and a striking architectural site, which was designed by Julio Cano Lasso. Despite its urban location, it is set amid delightful green scenery.
