Religious services

Santiago Cathedral Services.

In the Cathedral, open from 7.30 am to 9 pm, there are several daily services, which are increased on feast days.

At 12 noon all year round there is a Pilgrim Mass, so called because it is specially conceived for visitors, who play an important role in the liturgical service: accompanying priests may participate and all the groups are greeted. The number of pilgrim masses is increased during Holy Years and on special festivities and celebrations.

The Botafumeiro censer, which usually functions every day in the pilgrim mass during Holy Years, may be requested in advance by groups

The Invocation to the Apostle must be requested in advance in the Pilgrim Office.

The Choir Mass is held daily at 9.30 pm. The Cathedral has several chapels available forInternational Masses with their own parish priest. Confession, which is available in different languages on request, is heard during all the time the Cathedral is open.

Embracing the Figure of the Apostle, Visiting the Tomb and the “Pórtico de la Gloria” may be carried out while the Cathedral is open, except during liturgical services.

The Cathedral Roofs and Museum can be visited every day from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 to 8 pm.
