Compostela is a tasty city in November. A delight for residents and visitors alike, who hurry their pace so as not to catch a cold and seek shelter from the rain wherever there is a hot dish waiting for them. It is not just the steaming broths, juicy meats, shellfish at its best (this month’s cockles are really something!), tender cheese and aromatic chorizos or roast chestnuts that fill the air again. Compostela’s November menu is even more nutritious because in theatres, exhibition halls and museums we will find a-la-carte events to satisfy everyone’s hunger on the cloudy days and ever-longer nights of autumn.
We will thus savour the only Spanish presentation in 2011 of the best quartet in the world, the Emerson Spring Quartet; the beauty of the Cuban National Ballet; the season of the Real Filharmonía de Galicia orchestra, theatre premieres and all flavours of music, from metal to soul. But, above all, we will enjoy the extensive Cineuropa banquet, Compostela’s independent and auteur film festival that has reached its 25th year of filling our table with unforgettable films in enormous daily rations.
Bon appetite, Santiago!
