Throughout November, and with the arrival of the first chills, the tradition of roast chestnuts returns, accompanied by new wine, homemade chorizos, pie and “queimada” flamed eau-de-vie. This is the Magosto, Galicia’s traditional pagan festival that celebrates the autumn season by the firelight, with songs and old legends.
The chestnut-roasters are also back on the streets with their striking train-shaped ovens.
