'Xunta de Galicia', through 'Turismo de Galici', 'Arzobispado de Santiago de Compostela' and 'Fundación Catedral' organizes an open week at 'Pazo de Xelmírez' to show people the latest renovation works there.
The building is accessed by means of the door in Praza do Obradoiro. On entering the door we can see the original Romanesque portico that was covered by the new façade in the 18th century. On the second floor there is an interesting medieval kitchen and a 13th-century hall used for fiestas and meals. The hall's most outstanding feature is the corbels supporting the ribs of the arches that hold up the ribbed vault, all of which are decorated with scenes from a medieval feast.
