From 1984 to date, every first weekend in August, the Municipality of Val do Dubra pays tribute to its residents who have emigrated and its visitors.
It is a very popular festival, attracting visitors from the regions of Bergantiños, Xallas, Barcala, Ordes and Santiago. Around 20,000 people gather for the two-day event.
The festival features the participation of the entire town, emigrants and visitors. The activities are designed for young children, youth, adults and senior citizens. There is also room for culture, music and sports, all of which results in a festival with a lot of participation.
Every year, coinciding with the local holiday, Bembibre’s Campo de la Feria hosts the “Día da Exaltación da Empanada” (Galician Pie Day). In order to carry out this popular event, the Municipality of Val do Dubra is helped by local bakeries, which exhibit their different varieties and recipes.
The festival features musical entertainment and stalls offering Galician-style octopus.
