Giant Paella Festival

Giant Paella Festival

18/07/2014
[Fiestas]
Very close to Santiago: Silleda

Every year more than 1,500 people gather to savour the biggest paella made in Galicia with 1,000 kg of rice. The festival started in 2001 and has already been consolidated as an important event in the Municipality of Silleda’s festive calendar.

Events: Tasting of paella dish made with meat, chicken, mussels, tomato, beans and rice in a clay casserole and served in a marquee. Traditional music performances.

The organising committee arranges for one of the biggest known paellas to be made, using 1,000 kilos of the best rice in a unique paella pan heated with firewood. Thanks to a perfectly organised distribution system, using commemorative casseroles, close to 2,000 people wait inside a large marquee to enjoy this famous dish.

Start time: 10 pm
Menu: paella in complementary casserole, cheese and quince, bread, wine, soft drinks and coffee with eau-de-vie.
