Very close to Santiago: Touro

The Municipality of Touro takes advantage of its traditional festival on the 5th to pay tribute to its residents that have emigrated to other regions and countries, and who come home in August to spend their holidays with the family.

The Emigrant Festival is a meeting place for locals who live, above all, in Catalonia, the Basque Country, France, Switzerland and Germany. The event, which begins at 12 noon and lasts well into the evening, features bagpipe groups and street bands. There are also traditional “pulpeiras” (octopus cooks) and stalls selling Galician products.
