Circum is the name of the musical residency project developed in the Modus Vivendi in the first months of 2019. Four bands creating and growing before the eyes of the public, performing a known but different repertoire every night for two Sundays and two Tuesdays each month.
CHaNZo [Tuesday 8, 21 h]
Alex Salgueiro, Max Gómez and Xacobe Martínez Antelo start CHaNZo. Three Galician musicians who have improvisation as a faithful ally, and share as an obsession to search for new musical territories. CHaNZo is black music but not alone. It's Groove but not alone. It's jazz but not alone. CHaNZo works with a new palette of risky and informal elements, letting music find its own way. And music always finds its way...
Coralie Yap-Chine and guests [Sunday 13, 20:30 h]
Vocalist Coralie Yap-Chine begins a new stage in her musical career in the Modus Vivendi. Her voice will accompany different guests [this month, Maurizio Caruso's guitar] to experiment with their own and other people's literary texts, French chançon, South American song and other world music. One Sunday a month we will be able to listen to how well-known songs change in new and surprising ways for our enjoyment.
Tato Trio [Tuesday 15, 21 h]
Tato Vázquez on guitar, Alex Salgueiro on Hammond and LAR Legido on drums form this trio from Compostela, Tato Trío, which was born to pay tribute to some of the most important soul-jazz figures of the 1960s and 1970s, in an attempt to reflect the freshness and rhythm of an era influenced by the sonority of the Hammond organ.
Marcos Teira & Ton Risco [Sunday 27, 20:30 h]
Two infrequent musicians who sought themselves to live a musical affair. Two instruments of percussive character and different timbres that meet in a new understanding. Two musical personalities with diverse experiences, but with common points that, with no other intention than to enjoy each other, unite in their repertoire a collection of themes that includes jazz standards, South American music, flamenco or themes of their own composition. The magic of an unexpected encounter.
