A gastronomy festival that began to be held in 1987, during the San Isidro de Carcacía festival. In recent years, it coincides with the Day of Galician Letters (May 17).
The festival, which is very popular and influential in the entire region, is centred on the making of a giant omelette, which was the largest in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records in 1988. Last year, 1,200 kilogrammes of potatoes, 8,000 eggs, 50 kilos of chorizo, 380 litres of oil and 15 kilos of salt were used to make the omelette. This was all cooked in a giant frying pan that resulted in a 15 cm-thick omelette with a diameter of 3.5 metres.
The festival also features different events such as concerts with street bands, regional dances, active tourism activities, workshops and craftwork for children, traditional games and exhibitions.
