La película británico-irlandesa "Bloody Sunday" de Paul Greengrass es una cinta de género polìtico que logra un documento de interesantísimo valor histórico sin perder atractivo como producto cinematográfico.
Realizado con una técnica de cámara en mano formidable y unos intérpretes muy contenidos, el filme trata del conflicto entre católicos y protestantes en Irlanda del Norte y relata una masacre cometida por militares británicos en 1972, en la que murieron 13 manifestantes desarmados.
Peter Greengrass narra los hechos desde el punto de vista de cuatro jóvenes involucrados: un manifestante católico, otro protestante, el prefecto del distrito y uno de los paracaidistas que que participan en la represión de la manifestación.
Basándose en relatos testimoniales, Greengrass rinde un emotivo homenaje a las víctimas y sus familiares, a la vez que fustiga con dureza el polémico informe judicial que justificó la matanza y que está siendo revisado treinta años después.
Rodada con actores profesionales y también con habitantes de Londonderry, muchos de los cuales "revivieron la experiencia", la cinta está coproducida por el director irlandés Jim Sheridan ("Mi pie izquierdo", "En el nombre del padre").
