The Teo hostel is located at km 12.3 in the 6th stage of the Portuguese Road, on the ascent that follows the straight stretch of A Picaraña (N-550 road), near the “carballeira” (oak grove) and bridge of Francos. The original route actually goes through the shady woodland surrounding Pazo de Faramello (which can be visited). It is a new building that was opened in 2001.
It has 28 beds divided between two rooms, of which 4 are for persons with reduced mobility. It is open all year with an admission time from 1 to 10 pm, without the possibility of leaving after closing time. Pilgrims have to present their official pass (no bookings allowed) and it costs € 6.
It has a porch with benches and an outdoor patio, washing area, drying place, first-aid kit, mobile phone signal, plugs for charging batteries and an enclosed area for bikes.
Rúa de Francos is less than 1 km away and has a shop as well as bars and restaurants where you can eat and sleep, along with a beautiful “carballeira” (oak grove); at the entrance, there is the chapel of San Martiño and a singular Gothic stone cross. In the surroundings, apart from Pazo de Faramello, there is the pretty hamlet of Angueira de Castro and the mythical Castro Lupario.
