Santiago to host large Star Wars parade
The non-profit event is organised by and for fans of the well-known Star Wars saga.

On May 21, Santiago de Compostela will be an important landmark in the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back film, with a large parade of imperial troops through the old town and ending in Praza do Obradoiro. In the square facing the Cathedral towers, Darth Vader will inspect his troops to the sound of the Imperial March performed by a group of bagpipe players.
Participation in the parade is free and four workshops are underway in Santiago de Compostela, Vigo and A Coruña to prepare Star Wars costumes. Young ones can likewise participate. Volunteers are required to collaborate in the organisation of the event in the streets of Santiago on May 21. The parade will begin at 5 pm in Plaza de Mazarelos, passing through Rúa das Orfas, Praza do Toural, Rúa do Vilar, Praza das Praterías and ending in Praza do Obradoiro. It is expected to last around two hours. The municipal tourism company Turismo de Santiago is collaborating in the promotion of the event, which is expected to bring visitors to Santiago from all over Spain and abroad.
