BBC chooses Santiago as landmark in Spanish gastronomy series

The programme's chef and presenter, Rick Stein, is a lover of Galician fish and seafood.
26.3.2010

Galician gastronomy is in fashion. The BBC is recording ’Rick Stein’s Spain,’ a four-episode series about Spanish gastronomy, in which Galician produce and dishes will feature prominently. The programme’s chef and presenter, Rick Stein, decided to begin and end the programme with images of Santiago de Compostela and its gastronomy. The BBC shoot in Santiago will enjoy the collaboration of the Santiago de Compostela Film Commission (SCFC), Santiago Tourism’s audiovisual promotion service. Rick Stein is one of Britain’s best known chefs, specialising in fish and seafish. He is also very popular due to his TV series, beginning in 1995 with a series called Fruits of the Sea.
Twelve years ago, Rick Stein visited Santiago de Compostela and tried Galician fish and seafood, immediately becoming an admirer. This explains why his BBC programme will begin and end in Santiago de Compostela and with Galician cuisine. Filming will take place next week, with different locations in the city and throughout Galicia.
