Red Jackets Handled 33,609 Information Requests in July and August
The tourist information service handled 6,847 more information requests in the streets and squares compared to last year.

Santiago Tourism’s Red Jackets information service functions during the high season with the help of a group of volunteers and the collaboration of Santiago University. The Red Jacket volunteers were present in Old Town streets and squares, where they provided information about Santiago’s tourist attractions, accommodation, transport, addresses and a lot more. During the summer, they handled a total of 33,609 information requests, which was 25% more than last year’s total of 26,762. 73.05% of the requests were made by Spanish visitors and the other 26.95% by foreign tourists. In relation to the latter, the most popular countries of origin were Italy (2,290 requests), followed by France (1,201), Germany (1,019), Portugal (749), USA (327), UK (321), Argentina (241), Holland (226), Brazil (202), Poland (195). A total of 40 countries of origin were represented, which highlights Santiago’s international status as a tourist destination.
