2.7.2009

The SANTIAGO(é)TAPAS competition could not have got off to a better start: from Thursday, June 25, to Sunday, June 28, Compostela residents and visitors ate 6,500 tapas in the 50 participating bars, and collected 2,600 Tapasportes to participate in the competition.
Organised by Santiago Tourism and the Compostela Catering Association, the competition is looking for the best Compostela tapa, while inviting us to enjoy the city by following 5 routes making up a gastronomy `pilgrimage´: Praza do Obradoiro, Praza de Cervantes, Praza de Galicia, Praza Roxa and Camino Francés.
Prizes for the best tapa eaters
There are prizes for those completing 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 routes, including LCD screens, weekend in rural tourism establishments and a prize draw for Air Berlin tickets.
From business Tapasportes to Facebook
Apart from the 2,500 individual Tapasportes in circulation, there are also 70 business Tapasportes corresponding to workers from 15 companies.
In relation to Facebook, SANTIAGO(é)TAPAS already has more than 1,200 admirers, who are exchanging experiences and photos regarding the tapas competition.
More info about routes, participating bars, recipes, prizes and rules is available on the web www.santiagoetapas.com. The Tapasporte is available from the Plaza de Galicia tourist office, Santiago Tourism office (Rúa do Vilar, 63) and participating bars.
